I watched "Mad Hot Ballroom" with Siew Yen today =D It's a documentary about eleven year old kids from different states learning Ballroom dancing to compete in the finals. It's a GREAT movie. The kids are hilarious! They can make you laugh just with their priceless expressions, without saying anything. There's this really cute kid called Michael, he has curly hair, bursting cheeks and a receding chin. So he looks really cute but uncle-ish sloppy at the same time. And he's the kind who rattles on like he has all these big reasoning inside his head haha I think another guy in the theater was in love with him too, cos everytime Michael appears, that guy breaks out into a hysterical laughter within 1 sec! That's like extreme infatuation! haha.
What the teachers say are so true, that letting the kids learn dancing is not just for the sake of competition, but to let them learn something that they like and can be good in. And when the teachers give them encouragement and support, for some kids its something they will never get from home. And i like what one teacher said about "Tango"; its a passionate dialogue between two people, nice. I wish schools made us dance when we were kids!
I always thought American kids are mature, and they are! They are exposed to much more problems than here in Singapore. They think about these issues and develop their own opinions about them. They are not just caught up in their little worlds, yet at the same time so innocently find joy in fun and laughter.
The music's good too. The usual selection of dancing tunes, but still sounding as good as it gets. Me and sy can't wait to get our hands the vcd and soundtrack!
Feels so good to meet up with Sy!! I was doubly impressed that she rememebered many of the kids' names, like Cyrus, who would be able to remember a name like that?! haha
After that at Borders we saw......................SAMUEL! It's SO BIZZARE. Like somehow or another, he would just pop up from nowhere after disappearing to nowhere! HAHA Jinny would so agree with this. The 3 of us chatted for quite a while, and Sam lapsed into his army stories, like all army guys do. But his stories were very amusing! haha Sy and I laughed very naturally, didnt need to show the bottom rows of our teeth (fake smile) at all. haha he told us stuff from, how his signal system's antenna got caught in branches, to having to inject a humongously thick needle (the kind for a drip) into his friend's forearm for a test, to food ninjas in Taiwan. We laughed and cringed and laughed again. We must meet up with Sam soon man, through the orthodox way though haha
Had dinner with my bro today. I'm really glad we met up =))
Yesterday night me and Diana went K box. When the song "First day" played, diana said we should stand up for this song. So we did, that was all we did rather, stand and sway a lil to the beat haha that's our "dance". And diana can go join the senior citizens corner, she sang a Hokkien song without a single word unknown! haha we ventured into "cao2 meng3" songs too which made us a lil high haha
I spotted this phrase "Lobsters and Lollipops" while reading Narnia just now. It has similar meaning to oh my gosh HAHA but it's the most off combination i've ever come across!
