the hope of all the earth

today was song presentation week in keyboard class.
i played, Magnificent. my all time favourite song.
[this other guy in my class, tall lanky army-ish looking, played the intro of his song, that immediately made my jaw drop and almost fell off my chair. just so lovely. he played it in a classical-ish style. ahhh, classical is b-eautiful.]
i haven't been talking about keyboard much this term. because the truth is i didn't find much joy playing it anymore. after, the initial exciting period of being able to play was over. truth is, i got bored. i started to play only for my own satisfaction. technique got a lil more complicated too which resulted in me having to put in extra concentration, and thus finding it harder to sing and play. so they became song after song, or rather tune after tune, without much meaning. and, along the way i lost the passion to play for God.
before our presentation my teacher prayed. God honours our hearts more than our skills. i don't know why my heart grew colder along the way, could be many things. but i know that when i play for myself, it is not satisfying and joyous at all.
another of my classmate shared about the song she picked, Thank You Lord. she said because, she thanked God for all things He has given her, and for the things which she doesn't have, she thank God as well because she knew that God didn't give because He knew she would be better off without them. not all things that we ask for are good for us.
i think there's great truth in this. because God, really knows.
my teacher reminded us that 9 months ago, we couldn't even play a C chord.
thank God, that i can play songs now, to worship Him with all i have, above all else. and thank Him that i cannot play like that tall lanky guy, yet.
